Church Reality

CHurch Reality

Hi Everyone

This has been a bit of a learning curve for us … especially for me. I feel like I am being dragged back into a world of online meetings and video conferences that I thought I had escaped from years ago!

But this is the reality of church today.

… and I have to say, it is one that we are relishing the challenge of.

Looking around this site, you will see daily ‘beacons’ – small daily encouragements. We have a team of people working hard to record something of value that will lift us and remind us that we are not alone in our isolation.

We have met together as ‘church’ online – it’s new, it’s strange but somehow it feels unrestrained and real. The joy on faces as we see each other after only a couple of weeks apart is amazing (and very humbling). The Psalms are full of cries from the supposedly abandoned – and yet God was always there to be found. The prophet Elijah found himself alone and running scared (you can read about it in 2 Kings 19) and yet God chose this special time to appear personally before him.

I suppose the ultimate sense of being alone, was Jesus as he died on the cross for our sins.

‘Father , why have You forsaken me?’ was the cry.
Jesus alone. But this was the plan.

God cannot look upon sin – and turned away from His Son. For the first time ever.In this one act, Gods wrath was satisfied and the way for us was made open.

Payment made ….IN FULL.

God always works to His plan …. Not mine or yours, but His.

It is good to be reminded of that as we are moved out of our comfort zones and self-reliance on our ‘church structures’ – It is God who knows what is good for us.

That is why we relish the challenge.

What an opportunity has been given to us, to love, care and reach out as church.

Real Church

Stay safe, stay well and bless others.

Andy
